Actuary in Reinsurance Brokers

After more than one year worked as a research analyst in the energy sector, I have decided to switch to a more exciting job - actuary. I was recruited as a first actuarial analyst in Taiping Reinsurance Brokers*. I developed and built the first actuarial analysis model used by the firm. Within the 4 years, the number of company clients has increased by more than 50% by conducting competitive and innovative analysis for clients. In 2017, I produced more than 100 market research, strategic recommendation and analysis reports to more than 50 clients (including Top 15 General Insurance Companies in China). I led the Actuarial Analysis Team since November 2014, in charge of a team of 3, mentoring and providing feedback. On the other hand, I give the presentation in the client meetings with local and international insurance (e.g. Taiping, Ping An) and reinsurance (e.g. Munich Re, Lloyd's) companies on reinsurance issues, and I have developed a strong relationship with over 50 clients. Experience of Energy Analysis

After graduated from Unversity of Oxford with MMath in Mathematics and Statistics, I worked as a Research Analyst in a consulting firm. I worked closely with Electrical and Mechanical Service Department (EMSD) of the Hong Kong Government. I managed the Hong Kong end-use energy* database, including data collection, conversion, analysis, and projection. I summarized end-use energy data and analysis, published in "Hong Kong End-use Energy 2013" for EMSD. On the other hand, I also provide Hong Kong end-use energy data to Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC)**. This job not only provides me with a chance to understand more about the Hong Kong Government but also to strengthen my analytical skill as well as excel skill. During my university life, I seldom use Excel as my course does not require much calculation ( a lot of proving, you would know that if you are a mathematician).
